As we enter the final couple of weeks of the 2022 summer transfer window, Barcelona’s transfer activity could be set to pick up pace yet again.
While a move for Chelsea ace Marcos Alonso is at an advanced stage, Barca’s pursuit of Manchester City superstar Bernardo Silva also appears to be gaining momentum.
The 28-year-old Portugal international was at the top of manager Xavi Hernandez’s wish-list this summer. The Barcelona legend believes the Man City ace would be the perfect camera man for Pedri in the middle of the park at Camp Nou.
While Man City have been reluctant to sell so far, it looks like they may be reconsidering their stance with Silva reportedly leaning towards a move to Barca before the summer window closes.
Indeed, Gerard Romero is reporting that Silva is ‘crazy’ about a possible move to Barcelona this summer, with talks already underway between the two clubs.
Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is said to be brokering a deal as he bids his client move to Camp Nou before the window slams shut in two weeks’ time.
Romero goes on to add that meetings with Silva’s representatives have already been scheduled to look for a house in Barcelona next week, which could be another major indication that a move could be on the cards.
The Portugal international was the last to leave the Etihad Stadium following Man City’s Premier League victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, adding fuel to the fire.
Barcelona were hoping to finance a move for the former AS Monaco ace by offloading Frenkie de Jong and even had an €85m deal with Manchester United to sell the Dutchman.
However, with the midfielder reluctant to leave, Barca could raise the finances for Silva’s signature by selling Chelsea target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and out-of-favour right-back Sergino Desta.
